Chevron Renewable Energy Group to Build First Diesel Fueling Station in Seneca
Will offer Biodiesel Blends Providing Cleaner Fuels Options
SENECA, ILLINOIS – MARCH 1, 2019 - Chevron Renewable Energy Group the nation’s leading advanced biofuel producer, celebrated the start of construction on the company’s first diesel fueling station on Friday. The open house event brought community leaders and members together to celebrate the beginning of construction.
“It makes great sense to build our first fueling station in Seneca,” said Jon Scharingson, Executive Director, Sales & Marketing. “This facility brings in more than 17,000 trucks per year. Those trucks have to drive through town to get to the plant. To keep the community’s air clean, we are providing those drivers with a cleaner fuel option to put in the trucks.”
Construction on the site began earlier this week, and is expected to open for business this spring. The 35,000-gallon fueling station will be open to anyone who wants to fill up with a cleaner fuel option.
“The village of Seneca has been a great supporter of our business and this is a way to give back,” said Plant Manager Tim Mann. “This station will help lower emissions in the city as well as support our local farmers who provide the inputs, or feedstocks, we use to produce our biodiesel.”
Chevron Renewable Energy Group Seneca is a 60 million gallon per year biorefinery and has been producing biodiesel for over a decade. The facility employs 53 workers year round and adds more than $50 million into the state’s economy through the purchasing of feedstocks. Chevron Renewable Energy Group owns and operates 13 biomass-based diesel refineries, with a combined effective production capacity of 565 million gallons per year.
