President and Chief Executive Officer
CYNTHIA (CJ) WARNER
For more than 35 years, Cynthia (CJ) Warner, has held executive positions in the energy sector in operations, business development, strategy, environment, health, and safety. Currently, Ms. Warner serves as President & Chief Executive Officer for Renewable Energy Group, Inc. (REG) and as a member of the Board of Directors.
Prior to REG, Ms. Warner served as Executive Vice President, Operations for Andeavor. She oversaw Andeavor’s Refining; Logistics; and Environment, Health, Safety & Security groups, providing leadership that promoted safe, reliable execution and drove operating efficiency and effectiveness. Prior to that role, Ms. Warner served as Andeavor’s Executive Vice President, Strategy and Business Development, where she led the company’s strategic growth initiatives. She joined the company in 2014, bringing more than 30 years of experience in energy, oil refining and marketing, and related technology development.
Ms. Warner serves as a member of the Board of Directors for IDEX Corporation and a member of the Board of Directors for Sempra Energy. She is also a member of the National Petroleum Council and the Board of Visitors of the Vanderbilt University School of Engineering.
Vice President, Manufacturing
For more than 31 years, Mr. Albin has led all aspects of business operations including manufacturing, supply chain, research and development, engineering, strategy, sales, construction, technology and new business development. Mr. Albin has directed more than 70 operational sites in renewable energy, chemical, food, agriculture, processing equipment, transportation, contract manufacturing and automotive supplier companies such as Power Packaging, NutraSweet, Monsanto, Material Sciences and LaBatt’s breweries.
Mr. Albin was a pioneer of the biodiesel industry and built the first true multi-feedstock biodiesel plant in the world in 1998, and has helped successfully expand the biomass-based diesel market. Mr. Albin was a charter member within the National Biodiesel Accreditation Committee and played a significant role drafting the BQ-9000 Standards, which set the standard for the industry.
Mr. Albin held all executive director positions including the President of the Iowa Renewable Fuels Association in 2012 and is currently a director on the boards of American, Canadian and international companies. Mr. Albin graduated with a BS in Chemistry from Eastern Illinois University and completed the two-year Advanced Management program at the University Of Chicago Booth School Of Business.
General Counsel and Corporate Secretary
For more than 20 years, Eric M. Bowen has helped build innovative businesses. Mr. Bowen currently serves as General Counsel and Corporate Secretary for Renewable Energy Group, Inc. (REG). Prior to assuming the General Counsel position, Mr. Bowen was REG's Vice President, Corporate Business Development & Legal Affairs. Mr. Bowen joined REG in 2010 as Executive Director, Corporate Business Development & Legal Affairs and led REG's Life Sciences business from its inception in 2014 through its divestiture in 2019.
Prior to joining REG, Mr. Bowen was Founder, President & CEO of Tellurian Biodiesel, Inc. (acquired by REG). Prior to entering the clean fuels industry, Mr. Bowen advised technology start-ups in Silicon Valley at Venture Law Group. Mr. Bowen has been instrumental in crafting landmark clean fuels policies, including California's low carbon fuel standard. Mr. Bowen was a founding member of the California Advanced Biofuels Alliance, serving as chairman from 2007-2012. He also served on the California LCFS Advisory Panel, Mayor Gavin Newsom's Clean Technology Advisory Counsel and as chairman of the San Francisco Biodiesel Taskforce.
Mr. Bowen serves as a member of the Board of Directors of Forge Hydrocarbons, a Canadian renewable diesel technology development company.
Mr. Bowen holds a J.D. from The University of California, Berkeley and a B.A. from the University of Oregon Honors College. Mr. Bowen was the recipient of the Ray Hawk Award - the highest honor given to a University of Oregon graduate for scholastic achievement and leadership.
Vice President, People Development
Trisha Conley has more than 25 years of experience in human resources, talent management, global integration and business organization. Ms. Conley currently serves as Vice President, People Development for Renewable Energy Group, Inc. (REG). In this position, she collaborates with line executives to set the people operations visions, strategic direction and financial performance objectives for the company. Ms. Conley oversees the Human Resources, Talent Acquisition, and Learning and Development teams.
Prior to REG, Ms. Conley was HR Vice President for Fuels, North America and BP Downstream Head of Country for HR. She has also been the Global Head of Talent Management for Downstream, the Talent Management leader on the tiger team project with BP's JV partner Reliance and the HR Director of Integrated Supply & Trading, North America Gas & Power.
Ms. Conley holds a bachelor's degree in public relations and communications from The University of Northern Iowa and an MBA from The University of Missouri-Kansas City. She also serves as a trustee on the board for the Morton Arboretum in Lisle, IL. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, reading and a variety of outdoor activities including skiing and participating in long-distance road cycling events. She also enjoys spending time with her husband John and their kids, Nataliya and Ian.
Vice President, Sales and Marketing
For more than 20 years, Mr. Haer has been at the forefront of the development of the biodiesel industry. Mr. Haer currently serves as Vice President, Sales and Marketing for Renewable Energy Group, Inc. (REG). As Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Mr. Haer is responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining effective and profitable fuel sales and customer service with customers, distributors and manufacturers. The REG sales team is an industry leader in biomass-based diesel, selling 649 million gallons of fuel in 2018.
As the biodiesel industry began to take shape in early 2000, Mr. Haer served as the National Sales and Marketing Manager for biodiesel at West Central. In 2006, Renewable Energy Group, Inc. emerged from the West Central business and Mr. Haer took the helm of the Sales and Marketing department, including market and distribution infrastructure development for national and international biomass-based diesel sales.
Mr. Haer currently serves as co-chair of the RVO Working Group for the National Biodiesel Board. Mr. Haer previously served on the Executive Committee of the National Biodiesel Board’s Governing Board and was past Chairman. Mr. Haer holds a M.B.A from Baker University and a B.S. in Accounting from Northwest Missouri State University.
Vice President, Procurement
Doug Lenhart serves as Vice President, Procurement for Renewable Energy Group, Inc. (REG). As a member of REG's senior leadership team, Mr. Lenhart contributes to strategic business decisions for the North American and European markets. He oversees purchasing of feedstock and chemicals, sales of co-products, and the various transportation methods REG uses. Mr. Lenhart provides oversight and metrics to ensure the performance of all these activities, additionally looking for continuous improvement.
Mr. Lenhart has over 30 years of broad business background where he accepted senior leadership in Multinational Integrated Agriculture, Top 5 U.S. Commercial Banking, International Commodity Risk Management, and the Global Energy Sector. Mr. Lenhart has expertise in several areas including operations, agribusiness, commercial finance, fuels and chemicals, transportation, and logistics. His direct operations leadership has extended beyond the U.S. to Canada, Mexico, Asia, South America and Europe.
Mr. Lenhart received his Bachelor of Science in Agriculture Business from Illinois State University and his MBA from Iowa State University. He currently serves on the board of directors for the Iowa Biodiesel Board, the Executive Advisory Board of the Iowa State University MBA Program, the Ames, Iowa Economic Development Commission and the Iowa Rural Equity Project, along with multiple industry associations. He also helps with numerous youth sports organizations and the Lutheran Church of Hope (Ames, IA).
Vice President, Business Development and Optimization
For more than 20 years, Ms. Merrill has held multiple financial and operational positions, including more than 13 years in the biodiesel industry. Currently, she serves as Vice President, Business Development and Optimization for Renewable Energy Group, Inc. (REG). Ms. Merrill is responsible for business development activities including relationship and project development, global mergers, acquisitions, and divestments, including related financial analysis and integration activities. In addition, she oversees the Operations Control Team, which includes risk management, supply chain and transportation.
Prior to her current role, Ms. Merrill served as Treasurer, then Executive Director of Corporate Finance and Investment Banking, and most recently as Vice President and Chief of Staff. Prior to joining REG, Ms. Merrill worked for Deloitte in Kansas City, serving consulting, audit and tax clients during her tenure.
On a community level, Ms. Merrill serves on the Board of Directors for the Central Iowa Chapter for American Red Cross, a member and past Treasurer for Metro Women Connect and is a former board member of the Ames Chamber of Commerce.
Ms. Merrill holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Washington University in St. Louis, a Master of Accountancy from Truman State University and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Truman State University. Ms. Merrill is also a non-active licensed Certified Public Accountant.
Vice President and Managing Director, International Business
Raymond Richie serves as Vice President and Managing Director, International Business. He focuses on leading our existing international operations as well as international business development and international integration for future projects as needed.
Prior to his current role, he served as Vice President, Strategic Planning and Analysis and Managing Director, European Operations. Mr. Richie has a broad business background gained through leading companies and consulting to executives of large multinational companies. Mr. Richie has expertise in several industries including fuels and chemicals, agribusiness, transportation and logistics, and healthcare.
Prior to REG, Mr. Richie spent a number of years as a management consultant with Ernst & Young, LLP and a boutique agribusiness firm. Mr. Richie has experience in industry working for companies ranging in size from startup, including private equity owned, to large and publicly traded. At these companies, Mr. Richie has served in a variety of executive positions, including President and CFO, where he has overseen functions including: manufacturing, sales and marketing, procurement, and finance and accounting.
Mr. Richie holds both a B.S. and an MBA from Indiana University's Kelley School of Business where he majored in Finance, Marketing, and Strategy.
Chief Financial Officer
For more than 25 years, Chad Stone has served in various financial and consulting roles.
As the CFO, Mr. Stone is responsible for providing strategic leadership for the company by working with the Executive Management Team and Board of Directors to establish long-range goals, strategies, plans, and policies. In his role, he also oversees financial reporting, treasury, human resources, investor relations, information technology, taxes, and SEC reporting.
In his professional experience, Mr. Stone has served as a director at PricewaterhouseCoopers in Chicago and Cincinnati, focusing primarily in the energy and utilities industry, as well as a manager at Arthur Andersen in the Chicago office.
Chad currently serves as Chairman for the National Biodiesel Board on the Governing Board and Executive Committee.
Mr. Stone holds a Master of Business Administration in finance from the University of Chicago, Graduate School of Business and a Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting from the University of Iowa.
