President and Chief Executive Officer
CYNTHIA (CJ) WARNER
For more than 35 years, CJ has held executive positions in the energy sector in operations, business development, strategy, technology development, and environment, health, and safety. She has led operations globally for large refiners including Andeavor
and BP as well as scale-up and development efforts in novel renewable energy technologies.
Prior to REG, Ms. Warner was Executive Vice President, Operations for Andeavor (formerly Tesoro), after serving as Andeavor’s Executive Vice President, Strategy and Business Development. Earlier roles include Chairman and CEO of Sapphire Energy,
where she led the development and scaled demonstration of the end-to-end algae to oil process; and Group Vice President of Global Refining for BP, plc.
Ms. Warner serves as a member of the Board of Directors for IDEX Corporation. She is also a member of the National Petroleum Council and the Vanderbilt University School of Engineering Academy of Distinguished Alumni.
Vice President, Manufacturing
For more than 31 years, Brad has led all aspects of business operations including manufacturing, supply chain, research and development, engineering, strategy, sales, construction, technology and new business development. Mr. Albin has directed more than 70 operational sites in renewable energy, chemical, food, agriculture, processing equipment, transportation, contract manufacturing and automotive supplier companies such as Power Packaging, NutraSweet, Monsanto, Material Sciences and LaBatt’s breweries.
Mr. Albin was a pioneer of the biodiesel industry and built the first true multi-feedstock biodiesel plant in the world in 1998 and has helped to successfully expand the biomass-based diesel market. Mr. Albin was a charter member within the National Biodiesel Accreditation Committee and played a significant role drafting the BQ-9000 Standards which set the standard for the industry.
Mr. Albin held all executive director positions including the President of the Iowa Renewable Fuels Association in 2012 and is currently is a director on the boards of American, Canadian and international companies. Mr. Albin graduated with a BS in Chemistry from Eastern Illinois University and completed the two year Advanced Management program at the University Of Chicago Booth School Of Business.
Vice President, Corporate Business Development and Legal Affairs
For more than 10 years, Eric Bowen has been at the forefront of the development of start-up companies with an emphasis on biofuels. Mr. Bowen currently serves as Vice President, Corporate Business Development & Legal Affairs for Renewable Energy Group, Inc. In his role, Mr. Bowen is responsible for the development of strategic initiatives that drive market share and support the long-term growth of REG.
Prior to REG, Mr. Bowen co-founded Tellurian Biodiesel, Inc. and served as Tellurian’s President and CEO. He also lead Sigma Capital’s biodiesel project finance group and practiced law in Silicon Valley at Venture Law Group.
Prior to entering the advanced biofuels industry, Mr. Bowen practiced corporate and securities law in Silicon Valley. Mr. Bowen has been active in setting biofuels policy as a founding member of the California Advanced Biofuels Alliance and as Chairman from 2007 to 2012. He also served as Chairman of the San Francisco Biodiesel Taskforce and as a member of the California LCFS Advisory Panel. Mr. Bowen is also on the board of the California Advanced Biofuel Alliance.
Mr. Bowen holds a J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley and a B.A. from the University of Oregon Honors College.
Vice President, Sales and Marketing
For more than 20 years, Mr. Haer been at the forefront of the development of the biodiesel industry. Mr. Haer currently serves as Vice President, Sales and Marketing for Renewable Energy Group. As Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Mr. Haer is responsible
for developing, implementing and maintaining effective and profitable fuel sales and customer service with customers, distributors and manufacturers. The REG sales team is a leader in biomass-based diesel industry, in 2018, REG sold 649 million gallons
As the biodiesel industry began to take shape in early 2000, Mr. Haer served as the National Sales and Marketing Manager for biodiesel at West Central. In 2006, Renewable Energy Group, Inc. emerged from the West Central business and Mr. Haer took the
helm of the Sales and Marketing department, including market and distribution infrastructure development for national and international biomass-based diesel sales.
Mr. Haer currently serves as co-chair of the RVO Working Group for the National Biodiesel. Mr. Haer previously served on the Executive Committee of the National Biodiesel Board’s Governing Board and was Past Chairman. Mr. Haer holds an M.B.A. from
Baker University and a B.S. in Accounting from Northwest Missouri State University.
Vice President, Procurement
Doug Lenhart serves as Vice President, Procurement. As a member of REG's senior management team, Mr. Lenhart contributes to strategic business decisions for the North America and European markets. He oversees purchasing of feedstock and chemicals, sales of co-products and the various transportation methods REG uses. Mr. Lenhart provides oversight and metrics to ensure the performance of all these activities, as well as looks for continuous improvement.
Mr. Lenhart has over 30 years of broad business background where he accepted senior leadership in Multinational Integrated Agriculture, Top 5 U.S. Commercial Banking, International Commodity Risk Management and the Global Energy Sector. Mr. Lenhart has expertise in several areas including operations, agribusiness, commercial finance, fuels and chemicals, transportation and logistics. His direct operations leadership has extended beyond the U.S. to Canada, Mexico, Asia, South America and Europe.
Mr. Lenhart received his Bachelor of Science in Agriculture Business from Illinois State University and his MBA from Iowa State University. He currently serves on the board of directors for the Iowa Biodiesel Board, the Executive Advisory Board of the Iowa State University MBA Program, the Ames, Iowa Economic Development Commission and the Iowa Rural Equity Project, along with multiple industry associations. He also helps with numerous youth sports organizations and with the Lutheran Church of Hope (Ames, IA).
Chief of Staff & Vice President and Corporate Secretary
For more than 10 years, Ms. Merrill has held leadership positions in financial sector. Currently, she serves as the Chief of Staff and Vice President, Renewable Energy Group, Inc. (REG). Ms. Merrill is responsible for financing, strategy and mergers and acquisitions, as well as overseeing the Operations Control Team and operations center. She is responsible for the coordination of cross-functional and cross-business activities, continuous improvement across departments and businesses and representing REG leadership in many activities and efforts.
Prior to her current role, Ms. Merrill served as treasurer, then as Executive Director, Corporate Finance and Investment Banking. Prior to joining REG, Ms. Merrill served as a senior consultant for Deloitte Consulting in Kansas City.
On a community level, Ms. Merrill serves on the Board of Directors for the Central Iowa Chapter for American Red Cross, a member and past Treasurer for Metro Women Connect and is a former board member of the Ames Chamber of Commerce.
Ms. Merrill holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Washington University in St. Louis, a Master of Accountancy from Truman State University and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Truman State University. Ms. Merrill is also a licensed Certified Public Accountant.
Vice President, Strategic Planning & Analysis, Managing Director, European Operations
Raymond Richie serves as Vice President, Strategic Planning and Analysis (SP&A) and Managing Director, European Operations. As Vice President of SP&A, Mr. Richie leads a team that helps REG evaluate current and new market opportunities, integrate acquisitions into the company, and coordinate large cross functional projects. As Managing Director of European Operations, Mr. Richie is responsible for the European P&L that spans activities taking place in Germany and Netherlands. In addition, Mr. Richie serves on all Boards within that region.
Mr. Richie has a broad business background that was developed by leading companies, consulting executives of large multinational companies. Mr. Richie has expertise in several industries including fuels and chemicals, agribusiness, transportation and logistics and healthcare.
Prior to REG, Mr. Richie spent a number of years as a management consultant with Ernst & Young, LLP and a boutique agribusiness firm. Mr. Richie has experience in industry working for companies ranging in size from startup, including private equity owned, to large and publicly traded. At these companies, Mr. Richie has served in a variety of executive positions, including President, overseeing such functions as: manufacturing, sales and marketing, procurement, finance and accounting.
Mr. Richie holds both a B.S. and an MBA from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business where he majored in Finance, Marketing, and Strategy.
Chief Financial Officer
For more than 25 years, Chad Stone has served in various financial and consulting roles.
As the CFO, Mr. Stone is responsible for providing strategic leadership for the company by working with the Executive Management Team and Board of Directors to establish long-range goals, strategies, plans and policies. In his role, he also oversees financial reporting, treasury, human resources, investor relations, information technology and SEC reporting.
In his professional experience, Mr. Stone has served as a director at PricewaterhouseCoopers in Chicago and Cincinnati, focusing primarily in the energy and utilities industry, as well as a manager at Arthur Andersen in the Chicago office.
Chad currently serves as Vice Chair for the National Biodiesel Board on the Governing Board and Executive Committee.
Mr. Stone holds a Master of Business Administration in finance from the University of Chicago, Graduate School of Business and a Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting from the University of Iowa.
