We Must Act Now
As state and local officials debate clean air policies and fleets make decisions on what fuel to use, much of the focus is on technology that will take years, maybe even more than a decade, to be viable. Meanwhile, too many fleets continue to run on petroleum diesel.
Time is of the essence. Climate scientists say we must make significant progress soon on global warming or the consequences will be dire. Adding to the problem is the fact that carbon emissions stay in the atmosphere a long time and accumulate, meaning every moment we wait makes things worse.
Change must start with the transportation sector, which is the largest source of greenhouse gas emissions in the U.S.
