DEFOREST, WI. – April 16, 2019 - Renewable Energy Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: REGI), the largest biodiesel producer in North America celebrated upgrades at its DeForest, Wisconsin biodiesel plant Tuesday.
REG Madison, a 20 million gallon per year biodiesel plant located in DeForest, Wisconsin invited community members to celebrate the opening of the facility’s new entrance and logistics upgrades.
“We are excited to have the community turn out and celebrate another continuous improvement project at REG Madison,” said REG Madison Plant Manager Brian Coker. “Our team is committed to growing in DeForest by providing jobs and giving back to the community.”
The new entrance located at 533 N. Stevenson Street provides direct access to the biodiesel plant for truck traffic. REG purchased the plant in March 2016 from neighboring company Sanimax. In addition to the entrance and logistics upgrades, the company has added eight permanent jobs and made several other improvements to the plant. The biodiesel produced at REG Madison reduces greenhouse gas emissions up to 86% compared to petroleum diesel.
Part of the day’s events included a stop by the DeForest Windsor Fire and EMS. REG Madison donated a new piece of firefighting equipment for the department’s use.
“This trailer and high volume foam system are an expensive and specialized piece of equipment that DeForest Windsor Fire and EMS would not have been able to afford or justify on its own,” said Department Chief Steve LaFeber. “With the partnership between REG and DWFD we are able to acquire this piece of equipment to protect not only the safety of REG and DWFD staff, but enhance the safety of the entire community.”
